Dr Edward Cooper is a colorectal and general surgeon specialising in minimally invasive robotic and laparoscopic surgery. His key clinical interests include colorectal cancer and inflammatory bowel disease. He also works closely with the gynaecology unit at St George Hospital, providing colorectal support for patients with gynaecological malignancies and endometriosis.

Edward completed his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery with First Class Honours at the University of Sydney before undertaking general surgical training and receiving Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. He later pursued subspecialty training through the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand (CSSANZ), the only formally recognised colorectal training pathway in Australia. This program included two years of advanced colorectal training at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital in Perth and St George Hospital in Sydney.

Driven to further refine his skills in complex minimally invasive surgery, Edward completed a dedicated colorectal robotic fellowship at the prestigious Oxford University Hospital in the United Kingdom. This experience strengthened his expertise in robotic colorectal surgery and broadened his practice across the spectrum of benign and malignant colorectal disease.

Edward has contributed to ongoing surgical advancement through publications, national and international conference presentations, and active involvement in research. He is committed to surgical education and has held teaching positions at the University of Oxford, University of Sydney, and University of New South Wales.

Outside of medicine, Edward enjoys time with his wife and two daughters, alongside running and rugby.
