Biography
Dr Alan Lam is a leading Australian gynaecologist internationally recognised for his expertise in treating complex female health conditions through minimally invasive (keyhole) surgery. He specialises in the endoscopic management of severe endometriosis, pelvic floor prolapse, hysterectomy and myomectomy, and is known for his work advancing surgical care for inflammatory and pelvic pain disorders.
A graduate of the University of Sydney (1988), Dr Lam completed his residency at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and sub-specialty training in rehabilitation medicine before focusing on advanced gynaecological surgery. He is a Visiting Medical Officer at Royal North Shore Hospital, North Shore Private Hospital and the Mater Hospital, and a Clinical Associate Professor at the Northern Clinical School, University of Sydney. Since 2000, he has directed the internationally renowned CARE Masterclasses in Minimally Invasive Pelvic Surgery, a RANZCOG-accredited program attracting surgeons from around the world.
Dr Lam served on the Board of the Australasian Gynaecological Endoscopy and Surgical Society (AGES) for 16 years, including as President (2007–2011), and on the Boards of the AAGL, World Endometriosis Society and ISGE. A regular reviewer for major international journals, he also contributes to professional committees, including the NSW Medical Advisory Committee of AVANT, and is widely sought for expert medico-legal opinion.
