Rick graduated from the Adelaide Medical School in 2003 and was awarded fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2015. He completed international fellowships in kidney stone surgery (India and Malaysia) and the prestigious advanced oncology and robotics fellowship at Guy’s Hospital, London. He remained at Guy’s Hospital, the leading robotic surgery hospital in the United Kingdom, for a further two years as a consultant specialising in kidney and prostate surgery.

Since returning to Adelaide, Rick has been a consultant urologist at the Queen Elizabeth and Royal Adelaide Hospitals. His subspecialty interests include robotic surgery of the kidney, prostate, and bladder with a particular interest in complex robotic renal surgery. In 2020, he initiated the Robotic Surgery Clinic at the Royal Adelaide and continues to be actively involved in the provision of high quality robotic surgery in the public system. Rick volunteers in global health projects, participating in the first international urological surgical team to operate in Tuvalu. His passion for teaching was recognised by the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons as the most outstanding trainer and mentor in 2022.
